Populate column cells with descending numbers

I have a column and I want to populate each cell with a descending number. Is there anyway to automatically do this?

Have you tried putting the first number (highest) in the top cell, then have a formula in the cell beneath that cell that says "=sum(x99-1)" where x99 is the cell reference of the cell above it ... then just copy this second cell down as many times as you want.
