Can a single excel file handle over 100,000 lines?

Can a single excel file handle over 100,000 lines? I ask because I'm about to run a voting contest online and it is possible that I'll get more than 100,000 votes. The votes get downloaded in the form of an excel file and from there I can deternime how many votes there are. Please help.

If each vote represents one row on the spreadsheet then Excel 2003 and lower can only handle 64K (65,536) of Rows and 256 columns across as Maximums.

Excel 2007 can handle 1 million rows, so it would be okay.

If you were able to count votes by using 10 columns (10,000 rows each), then it might also fit in Excel 2003 and lower versions.

You could also use more than one tab. I've never had a reason to check, but as far as I know, Excel 2003 and under can handle 65,536 rows in each tab or worksheet (and you can have several), so you could just split your results into two or more tabs.
