    Default date format

    Hi,

My Excel is reading date entries as: mm/dd/yyyy

But I would like to enter my dates as: dd/mm/yyyy

I am referring to the actual entry, not the display (ie the value in the formula bar, not the value as displayed in the sheet.) I can change the format as displayed in the sheet, but I cannot change excel to read my inputs differently.

I had this set up in a previous version of excel. I am now using Excel 2003, and can't find how to make the change.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Heski

Not sure about this someone will correct me if there's another way to do this, but when Excel starts it reads the date format in your Locale Settings on your PC. You may need to change the settings there.

Control Panel, Date Time Regional Settings, Regional and Language Options

Then click the Date tab and change the format in the Short date Format box

Obviously this will change the date format on many of your other programs as well!!

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.
