Linking/Copying formulas not working correctly

I'm trying to link data from one sheet to another in the same workbook. For example: In A1 on sheet1 I hit the "=" sign and then click cell D1 in sheet 2. Typically then, if I would grab the right hand corner of A1 on Sheet one and drag down, then it would automatically copy D2, D3, etc. from sheet 2. What is happening is the formula in A2, A3 is saying that it is linked to D2, D3, but the value in those cells is the same as A1.

Has anybody ever come across this? I refuse to click back and forth and link every single cell. It used to work, and now all of a sudden it doesn't.

Have you got your options set for Automatic Recalculation?

Press the function key F9 at the top of your keyboard, do the numbers in your cells now become correct?

If so select from the tools menu > options > calculation
and tick the automatic calculation box.
