    Plotting locations on a grid?

I would like to place a colored circle in cell E5 and be able to display E5 in another cell if the circle is indeed in E5. Is this possible? Is there perhaps another way of doing this? I know I could use an X instead of a circle but it is not the greatest choice.

Not quite sure what you are trying to do, but try this....select E5, go to Insert > Symbol and pick a circle > OK. Increase the font size and colour if need be. Then in G5 type this

    =IF(E5="","",E5)

    Does that help?
