Pivot table cache

I have a data sheet in a workbook and a pivot table created from it. When I update the data in the data sheet the pivot table is updated but if I look in the drop downs for one of the fields I can see references to old data items which are no longer in the data sheet. Is this a cache problem and if so is there any way around it.

Hi Keith,

what i had to do was
1. remove the field from the pivot table
2. refresh the pivot table
3 replace the field back into the pivot table
