PC-Mac Conflict

I produce an Excel document on a PC with a lot of formatting and macro use. It looks fine on the PC. When it is opened on a Mac and there are lots of triangles, making the document hard to read (see attached). Does anyone know what these triangles are? Is there a way to globally delete them on a Mac. Is there a way to avoid their appearance when producing the original file? Any help would be appreciated.
