    sorting different sets of data

I have a extensive list of people and I am merging two of these lists together. The problem is that the two lists are not formated the same way. So manually made the second list look like the first but its not exact. Now im driving to sort them all by zip code and when I go to do that it leaves the second list second sorted on its own. I would like to have the whole list sorted without regard to the format of the row.

    Please help!

I'm interpreting this as you rec'd data sets from two separate sources, so they are not the same. You "made" them the same and combined.
Now when you sort, they are still "top-half" and "bottom-half" separated ...?

Check to see that your zips are all the same data type - either numeric or text (if it is the xxxxx-xxxx format)
Especially if it is text, check for leading spaces.

You are exactly right, except when i formatted the zip code cells to all be "number" sorting by that row still didnt work. I still have two different "sets" of info.

Do I need to make sure all the rows are the same data type? Also both of the sets match the data by rows but the second set is missing some of the row info. But they are still spaced correctly by row, does that matter?

Ok i figured it out, if i click the formula bar and press enter, then sort that row will sort into the rest. But the problem is i have to click all of them! is there a faster way to go to the formula bar?
