    countif question

    Hello,

I am having a problem with a formula... hopefully someone can help. What I am doing is a formula to reference a date and return the number based on date. This is how the current formula reads:

    =COUNTIF('Data (by Date)'!I:I,A3)

I did not create the original formula, however, the cell that references the date is I15 ... it would stand to reason that there should be some reference to the cell to make it sort by date. (I did not write the original formula)... i have tried several combinations of formulas trying to figure it out... I am just not the best at creating formulas like this. Can anyone help me to figure this one out?

The way the formula is written now, it's looking at all the cells in Column I and counting them if they have the date as listed in cell A3.

You say that the date you want to reference is not in A3 but in I15. Where then are the cells you want to count?
