    Tracing the contents of a cell to a sheet

    I have a report that has a summary page. The summary page is the sum of numerous sheets in the workbook. in my example sheet attached i have a demo. When i click on the cell in question is there a way to see where the data is coming from?

    Ideally it would be nice to see the sheets that make up the number 550. in my example it would be test 2 = 50 , test 4 = 500.

    Thank you in advance for you help with this...

    Yes, you want to use the auditing tool (under the Tools dropdown) Trace Precedents. If the precedent cell(s) are on the same sheet, it draws arrows from them and blocks ranges. If they are from other sheets, it draws a dotted line to a tiny spreadsheet icon. If you double click on that dotted line, a "GoTo" box opens up with a list of all the cells and which spreadsheets they are located in. You can then highlight any one of those cell ranges and click "OK" and it'll take you to that sheet/cells.

    Any questions?

    Thank you for your reply. Is there a way I can see past the data and just where my values are coming from?

    50 from sheet 2
    500 from sheet 4

    I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "See past the data". If you use the auditing tools, it points you directly to the cell that contains the 50. Are you asking for something more like filling in the variables (e.g. cells) in the formula? For example;
