How to make a reference absolute

I have a formula in my worksheet:

COUNTIF(F:F, "Pass")

I want this formula to ALWAYS refer to F:F, even if more columns are inserted. How do I do this?

Never mind. I figured it out.

COUNTIF($F:$F, "Pass")
