Can't enter any data in Excel spreadsheet

Hi all - Hope someone on here can help me please!

A friend (who lives a fair distance away) has a very simple Excel 2007 spreadsheet. It consist of four columns with either numeric or alpha data in the. No formulas, no macros etc...

She emailed the spreadsheet to me and it works fine, I can enter data without problems. Whenever she tries to use it she just can't enter any data. She clicks in a cell and it higlights but she doesn't get a cursor and can't enter data. If she tries to click in the area underneath the toolbar to enter data she also does not get a cursor!! It used to work just fine for her but has suddenely stopped!

    Any ideas please?

    Hi,

Is it just this particular workbook, or any workbook?

If it's every workbook, then it might suggest Excel has become corrupted. In which case the simplest solution might be to remove the Excel application in its entirety and reinstall from the original disk.

Are there any other applications open in memory at the same time? If so, try closing everything, reboot the PC and just load Excel and this particular workbook.

Hope this gives one or two ideas.

    Hi,

THanks for the reply - it happens with any workbook - even a brand new one!

    Hi,

Then I suspect Excel has become corrupted. Try uninstalling and reinstalling

I have found that using the Num Lock keys do not work at certain times within the cells. Check to see if you haven't accidentally hit the Num Lock key and knocked it off. Simply hit the Num Lock "key" itself and the light should appear on the keyboard. This should correct the problem. However, if you use the numbers at the top of the keyboard they will work!! I have done many workbooks and have not encountered this problem before.
