    Cell changing text

    My company is using excel spreadsheets and printing Code 128 barcodes. We have a VB Script that converts plain-text to the correct format (start digits, etc) that can be read by the barcode readers with the barcode font.

    The spreadsheet is changing a few digits, however. Specifically, it is changing

    I don't understand why, as the specific cell in question is flagged as "general" - and thus should not have any text formatting.


    If someone could point me out to the error of my ways, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello pyro_dude,

    Code 128 supports only ASCII characters. If the characters in question are Unicode (double byte) that is your problem.

    The actual code to be read in the barcode is "161991800006" which, when we put it in the converter, comes back with the above code. My confusion is why Excel is taking it upon itself to switch the case of the last 2 characters.

    Bump to try to salvage what's left of my sanity...

    Anyone think of any possible reasons why that might be happening?
