deleting reduntant rows in respect to one column

I have a column of first names in an excel sheet. I want to delete redundant rows such that for every name there would be just one row, say the first one(actually I don't care which).
How can I do it? If it's not possible how can I delete rows such that I won't have two identical ones?
    Thanks in advance,
    Oscar

    Thanks a lot!

    That's exactly what I needed.
