    move everything before the left parenthesis into Cell B,

    I have the following in Cell A.

    I want to put everything before the left parenthesis into Cell B,
    and anything within the parenthesis into Cell C.

    Any idea how I make a formula to do this?



    Cell A

    =LEFT(A1,FIND("(",A1,1)-1)
    C1
    =MID(A1,FIND("(",A1,1),LEN(A1))

    The first part worked just fine, thank you very much. The second part almost works, but it's giving me the trailing parenthesis.

    Unless you have an extra space or two at the end of each entry, my second formula should not give you the trailing
    parenthesis.

    If you do have extra spacess..try

    =MID(A1,FIND("(",A1)+1,LEN(TRIM(A1))-FIND("(",A1)-1)
