Using a cell reference to determine path

    Hello,

I have two columns, one called UserID, the other one called UserName. In same folder as this document I have another spreadsheet called 0001.

Is there a way for me to type in 0001 in first column, and the path for cell b, will be (example)

    Cell A ... Cell B
    0001 ... C:\Excel\0001.Xls

    So:

    Instead of the normal
    =[0001.xls]Ark!A1

    It would be dynamic and following what I type in the column befor as;

    =[CellA.Xls]Ark!A1

    - I hope that covers my question.

    Something like:

    =INDIRECT("'["&A1&".xls]Ark'!A1")
Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Hmm!

Well, I just tried it, and it works.

    - But after reading a bit on the 'INDIREKTE' (Indirect), a new problem arise. This function will only work if the target document is open. Is there a way to use one similar in use that will allow me to do it with closed documents too.

    Thank you,

You can try Harlon Grove's Pull() udf... (I have never tried it though)

There is also a special addin function called INDIRECT.EXT but don't know if it can translate to your language.... it can be found here. You need to download the Morefunc.xll addin. http://xcell05.free.fr/morefunc/english/
