Chart X axis out of scale

    Hi,

    I have a strange question.

I tried to create a chart today that shows the % of transfered amounts across four markets.
Y axis is percentages, X is labeled Transfers and then the data is only percentages. But when I finish creating the chart it appears as if there are two different categories in the X Axis ( for example if there were Transfers and Incomes)

I am not quite sure why is this happening. Could it be because I am using data that is in merged cells ??!?!

There is an attached file showing the end result with the X Axis out of scale.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance

It's much easier to advise if you upload the workbook rather than just a picture when we can see the problem in context - as advised in the guidance notes to the forum.

    Hi,

Yes, it's because you have merged cells. e.g. D5:D6 on the Summary sheet. If you unmerge them and temporarily add in another number to D6 you'll see what I mean.

Your chart is actually displaying 8 values, it's just that four of them are empty cells and displaying a zero height bar.

Change your chart series to point to single cells and you'll be OK.

    Regards
