    Turning text into date

    Hiya,

    Hope everyone's well.

I have a work sheet where, for ease, B1 takes the first 8 characters from the text in A1. The first 8 characters are dates written as follows:
    dd/mm/yy

However, this does not come up as a date value in B1, but as general text. How can I get it as a date for use in further calculations?

    Thanks
