Create QR codes for each and every material

If I am in the wrong place; in this forum or altogether I apologize. Weird times are bringing on weird measures and my job has us currently doing a lot of work from home; work that is out of my scope of practice.

I work in a hospital and we track inventory using excel, our ordering process is a bit clunky and tends to use a lot of paper and pencil still.

What I would like to do for ordering materials is use the available IPad's at work to scan QR codes attached to our material inventory list.

So I assume I would need to create QR codes for each and every material (as they are all ordered individually with individual ordering codes).

Each scan would allow me to input a number (how many need to be ordered) which I can forward to the gent who has to put it through another system (hospital bureaucracy) but he would get all the needed parameters and just input them himself.

This seems in writing more convoluted than it needs to be but I am blissfully ignorant on these topics and probably making things seem far more complicated, or wording them atrociously.

When you say "create QR codes" that made me wonder how I would capture them into Excel. I pulled out my Android phone where I'm running Edge browser and Bing search. When I tap on the camera Icon in Bing I get a message that Edge has saved the link to my clipboard. Amazed, I start Excel on my phone app and paste the link into excel. Boom! Is it that easy?

Is this what you want to do? You may be able to do it already using your phone and the Excel phone app. I don't know if your phone browser will do what Edge and Bing do but give it a try.

I imagine you could go through a stock room, QRing tags and putting numbers next to those cells. Email that phone Excel file to yourself and/or the purchase department.

However - there are currently no QR codes to photograph whatsoever...i feel like i need to start one step before this.
