    Date of Hire and accruing vacation

    I use Excel 2000 and I need to figure out how to take a hire date and calculate the vacation accrual for the following:

    1-3 years it's accrued 6.67 hours per month
    4-5 - 10 hours per month
    5+ - 12.23 hours per month

    I want to find the maximum number of accrued vacation they have to-date .

    How would I go about getting this information?

    Suppose A1 is hire date.

    B1 enter this formula.

    This worked! Thank you. Now may I add one more request to this:

    A1=Hire Date
    B1=# of months from todays date vs. their hire date

    I want to accurately accrue this year's accrual rate based upon the number of months from their anniversary month. I can almost get it but if their month is November or December the calculation is 13 and 14, respectively which is incorrect, obviously.

    Thanks

    Not sure what you are looking for but you should be able to use DATEDIF function.

    If hire date is in A1 then this formula will give the total number of full months since hire date

    =DATEDIF(A1,TODAY(),"m")

    or this formula will give the number of months since last anniversary date (always a figure between 0 and 11)

    =DATEDIF(A1,TODAY(),"ym")

    Re: Date of Hire and accruing vacation

    Hi-
    Our companies are combining and instituting a new pto policy. Right now I need to calculate how many PTO days each employee will have based on their hire date.
    Year of Hire 13
    1 to 4 19
    5 to 9 22
    10 to 19 24
    20 + 27

    Then I will need to calculate hours to accrue based on 26 and 24 pay periods. Can you help?
    Thanks!

    BTW I am unsure if I did this properly.... Can someone help me navigate the system?
