Password Protecting cells in shared file

    Hi,

Am new to this, so apologies if I ramble.

I am trying to set up a shared spreadsheet on a LAN, but would like certain cells to only be available to edit by certain people (if they have the password).

We are all likely to be using the spreadsheet at the same time, so it isn't a case of unprotecting/unsharing the spreadsheet to make certain changes.

Is there a way to password protect certain cells?

    Thanks

Highlight your whole worksheet, easy way is to click on the blank reference in the top left corner between A & 1.

Right click in the worksheet area while highlighted, select format cells, protection, un-tick Locked.

Select the cells you want protected. While cells are highlighted, right click, select format cells, protection and tick the Locked checkbox.

Protect your sheet and that should be it.

You can't apply / unapply protection to a shared workbook, but any protection already set will remain in place. There is no workaround, except using the workbook on a LAN on an unshared basis.
