    Sorting

    Hello,
I have a data-set set up with a row that has the header information in it ie, student names, grades, etc. When I sort columns the headers ALSO sort. Now, the headers are down in the middle of the doc. How, do I 1) get them back top, 2) sort with them remaining at the top from here out?

    Thank you for your help!

When sorting, you have to select the option that indicates that your data has headers, then it will leave them in place.

As to getting them back to the top, you probably need to insert a row, then cut/paste the headers back up there.

    header row

while selecting the data to be sorted, do not select the top row (usually the header row). as a result excel will assume the top row as the header and will give you the options of sorting by using as the header. in the absence of a header row, excel refers to the columns as col A, B etc.

    hope that helps!
