Trailing space with copy and paste

    Hi all,

I have a problem I have not come across before.

    I'm using Excel 2002.

If I copy and paste a list of words into column A and say I want to get rid of all the spaces I usually highlight column A >> Ctrl H .. in the 'Find What' box I hit the space bar once, leave the 'Replace with' box as is and hit the 'Replace all' button .. This will remove all spaces from column A.

However, recently, after I perform this function and I want to copy and paste from a cell to anywhere else (a search engine for example) I have a trailing space at the end of the word .. even after removing all the spaces using the above method.

I have reset my toolbar to it's default settings but to no avail.

Anyone got any ideas as to how to fix this?

    Thanks

Hi Murphy, and welcome to the forum.

Depending on where you're copying the data from, it may include either non-breaking spaces or non-printing characters which aren't the same as a space. Using TRIM and CLEAN functions can usually get rid of most of these characters, but see this link for some other information: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...561311033.aspx

    Hope that helps!
