Possible to display the 1st 5 letters of a word??

If I had the word OMNICONNECT in cell A1, is it possible to put a formula in B1 that would return OMNIC ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Duck, worked a treat,
Hey, also, is there a formula that converts lowercase to uppercase?
The reason being that cell A1 has Omniconnect in it and I want B1 to display OMNIC, not Omnic.

Actually I just found another problem. SEE ATTACHED

    Cheers mate,

The UPPER function will do that.

If you press F1 in Excel and type in some of the keywords you're asking here, you'll get the builtin help files explaining these function.

Just wrap the LEFT function inside an UPPER:

Did you press F1 and look up Date Formatting? :D Hehe, dude. Even keyword DATE would bring it up...you gotta try a little here.

Anyway, Format > Cell > Date > choose your desired appearance.

Oh, I see your question. You need to post these separate questions in new threads. It is against the forum rules to use a thread for ongoing development of a single sheet. The forum is a Q & A for specific questions so other people can search and find the answers without having to post their own question.

Please post a new thread and I'll give you the answer over there. Be sure to put in a correct title and attach the workbook again.
