    Matching data in different sheets to return a value in a cell

    Hello Friends,
    May you please help on this?
    Please find attached file for easy reference,
    I require a formula in C2 of sheet2 to bring the data available in column E of sheet1 if the data in column A column of sheet1 matches the data in C1 of sheet2

    I use excel 2007

    Thanks Shijesh,

    Unfortunately, this won’t work, i think the formula should have a combination of IF & MATCH functions, but I do not know how to get them done

    Is there addition condition to check..

    I can see there are multiple values in column A, so there should be some addtion condition to check.

    The formula in C2 sheet2 should bring the value available in D1901 because A1901 of sheet1 contains the same value available in C1 sheet2 and then C3 sheet2 should bring the value available in D1902 because A1902 of sheet1 contains the same value available in C1 sheet2 etc
    Sorry for the confusion I caused, in my first post please read Column E as column D instead

    Try this formula

    dont put curly braces...
    after typing the formula dont hit enter...
    instead preset ctrl +shift + enter

    see the attached sheet for detail
