    Sort data in pivot table

I am trying to sort a pivot table so that the calculated percentage displays highest to lowest.

I found a thread with this same question, but he said he found an answer and didn't post it up.... shame

    Any help would be great,
    Cheers

Back2Basics, you may just select the field you want to sort your data by and press the "Sort ascending" or "Sort descending" button on the toolbar

I want to sort it by the CALCULATED column, so that it shows highest percentage against lowest.

If you try and sort this in that way it just comes up with an error message.

Re: Sort data in pivot table (Excel 2007)

I was having the same issues with Excel 2007 Pivot Tables. I couldn't get Excel 2007 to sort on a computed value such as "% of row" and sort the rows high-to-low as a percentage and not sum or count. I finally figured it out. Here's how.

Select the row-header dropbox for the field you want to sort A-Z or Z-A based on the calculated results. I'm NOT talking about the column header for the computed field. I'm talking about the ROW headers on the far left.

    Click the dropbox
    Choose "More Sort Options..."
    Select "More Options..."
Uncheck the box for "Sort automatically every time the report is updated"

Click your way out "Ok" and then "Ok" again. You should now have full control of the sorting.

What a pain in the butt. Glad I stumbled on the solution because it was frustrating the crap out of me. Over an hour of no-help online research and subsequent experimentation. I hate when MS thinks they know what is best for me. Excel 2003 didn't have this issue and then some Redmond smart a$$, thought he should control this function for us. They need to go crawl back under a rock and leave what works alone. BTW, I want my classic menu drop-lists back.
