    You cannot change part of an array

    Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (SP3)

    Part of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003

    Copyright 1985-2003

    Windows XP version 5.1

    Is there any advancement on fixing the bug

    You cannot change part of an array

    followed by

    Cannot exit Microsoft Excel

    If I make a little mistake in an array, I have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete and close

    msexcel.exe from the Task Manager

    You need to change the entire array at the same time, rather than just one element of it. If you press the Escape button, Excel will exit out of Edit mode and you should be able to then select all the cells in the array (say A1:A100) and either modify as desired, or F2 to re-enter Edit mode and press Ctrl+Enter to convert the entire array back to non-array formulas (in which case you can do what you like with individual cells).

    But Escape merely brings the error back up
