Drop down menu with info from another spreadsheet

Hello guys, I hope you can help me:

In spreadsheet 1 I have a fix list of different status:

    Paid
    Unpaid
    Collections
    Delinquent

In Spreadsheet 2 I have the customers names.

I want to be able to qualify the customers on Spreadsheet 2 by selecting from a dropping down list based on Spreadsheet 1 list information.

    Thanks in Advance!
    Lorena

How are the customers in page 2 sorted in to their respective divisions?

Wait, if it's a fixed list, why don't you just enter those four choices in your data selection?

    Hi Lorena,

assuming that your spreadsheets are in the same workbook, i.e. on different tabs, the following will work:

    - select the cells with the statuses and give the selection a range name (Insert - Name - Define), for example the name CStatus (for Customer Status)

    - on the other sheet, select the cell where you want the drop down box, the select Data - Validation from the menu.
    - in the Allow field select List
    - in the Source field enter the name you just created with a leading = sign (e.g. =CStatus)
    - make sure the check box for In Cell dropdown is selected
    - Click OK

test the cell and if it works, copy it and paste special (validation) to all other cells that should behave the same.

    HTH
