    Cut & Paste acting strangely

    Hi All,
I use both Excel 2000 and recently started using Excel 2002 (XP) on the new Vista 64 system. I am working on a project where I am cutting and pasting addresses etc. from an email message into an excel spreadsheet.

Now, cut & paste is not rocket science, and I have been doing this same operation for many years, however, tonight it isn't working correctly.

When I do a CTL-C to copy from the email and CTL-V to paste into Excel, the 1st one went fine. Unfortunately, C&P for the second into the 2nd cell, and all subsequent attempts, always pastes the 1st address into the cell. I have used the menu (Edit - Cut. Edit -Paste) and it still only pastes the original one.

Now I would think that the second cut would cause the 1st cut to be replaced in memory so that paste would work as expected. However it seems that just isn't so...well, now. It happens in both versions of Excel.

I have never experienced this problem. I have noticed irritating difference of many programs when using V-64, but never (well almost never) with standard MS programs.

Thanks for any assistance you may provide. I can always go to an XP machine to finish my work, but this has me stumped.

    Thanks,
    AA

Thanks for the response, and yes, I have tried C&P in PowerPoint and it works correctly. C&P also works correctly doing a C&P between PPT 2003 and PPT 2000 thinking that there was some problem bewteen versions, although Microsoft says that Office 2000 and Offices XP will coexist on the same machine. Lastly, notepad works fine also. Thanks again for your reply.

ive had a look and a play and cant reproduce that.now the question is, is it just not copying?
if you copy something try typing something in an empty cell
that should clear the clip board (paste will be greyed out)
then copy again and see if paste option is availiable
but best i can think of is to run detect and repair i believe its in the help menu(havent got that option in 97)

    Hi Martin,
I have done a "Detect and Repair" on both versions (yes, 2000 has that) to no avail. I will just go to the XP machine to handle that operation. Thank you for your assistance and extremely quick replys.
