    Another conditional formating query

I have a big spreadsheet that has 30 columns. The data is downloaded from an SQL database from time to time.
The row identifying data ( the record number/key ) is in the left most cell.
I often have to move over 10 to 20 columns to view some other data in the same row and sometimes I "loose" which row I am on.
So I highlight the row by selecting the preset Excel row number which higlights the whole row and then use the lower slider bar to go to the correct column to view the data.
However if I wish to select an item of data ( or update a particular cell ) then I loose the highlighting for that row and I can "loose" which row I am on. ( maybe I'm stupid but it does happen )
Can I use Conditional formatting to highlight a row whenever I alight on any data in that row and it stays highlighted until I select another value on another row?

If you want to see column A all the time, place your cursor in cell B2, and choose Window, Freeze Panes. Then wherever you scroll the column names and first column are always visible.

    Highlighting row

    Hi

Try the following code, which I found some time ago, sorry I cannot remember from whom, place the code in the relevant sheet module

to change the highlighting colour simply change the interior color index value. If you want only the row then just delete the column references.

If you need to turn off the highlighting then you can add the following in a standard module

Use any available blank cell instead of the above and add a keyboard shortut, remove commenting from the two lines in the above.

    To Mikepolo,
Thanks, I already use the split screen option to hold the column headers and the left most key data ( forgot to mention that!) but often in the rightmost pane I may have anywhere between 4 and 6 columns and I need to view a column 10 columns away. If I select any item in that row the Excel line number is "highlighted" so I do have some sense of where I am but highlighting the whole of the row that I am working with would be a super added benefit.
    Thanks again for your input.
