    Dividing a time Value

Hi can anyone help me to divide a cell containing a time value (hrs:mins:secs). My timesheets calculates the number of hours on a job and I want to divide this total by the number of components made - sounds easy but I have been struggling for over an hour on this one!
    Thanks

    Linds

Do you have any more info ?

    TIME/PARTS = time per component

    Re: Dividing a time Value

    Perhaps something like:

    =A1*24/B1

where A1 contains the time and B1 contains number of components
Where there is a will there are many ways.

AArgh tried this and it did'nt work - the value in A1 is 4:30:00 (ie 4 and a half hours) the value in B1 is 3 - 3 components. When I tried your forumula I got 12:00:00!!

Format the cell to General / Number if using *24 (not Time)

    Re: Dividing a time Value

Sorry forgot to mention that you need to format the result as General to see an actual number...
