Using an Excel file on multiple computers at once

I have been trying google doc's spreadsheet and I love how I can have many people using the same file at the exact same time and I can see the changes being made while they are being made, so that I don't accidentally overwrite their changes, but I can also add my own changes.

BUT, it is too slow. Especially with multiple tabs. Does Excel allow me doing something similar? I love how much faster Excel is compared to Google Spreadsheet, but I would really love it if I can have like 3 different people edit the same file at the same time.

not such a good idea, sharing really only works if you only edit unique cells. if user 1 puts something in a1 and user 2 does the same you have 2 options ,(in advance tab)1 ask which to save or the changes being saved win. this can really be annoying.if you choose the first then every time you save and someone has changed same cell you have to choose(if you choose yours ,then theirs is not and they may not know it), or 2 if you use the second option and they got in before you you have to re enter data.
sharing really only works when say there are individual jobs already on say row 1 thro' 50
mr a is dealing with job 5 then no problem as he is only one entering data in that row
mr b can happily deal with and enter data on row 49.both save, no conflict no prob.
