    Conditional Sum (with several imbedded)

I have a list of customers and their revenue contribution. Some of the customers have multiple entries as shown attached file

I want to input formulas that will do what I've shown above: (1) add together the revenue numbers for customers will multiple entries (so that it shows the sum for the first time the name appears but zero each time after), (2) just list the revenue for customers with single entries. The one catch is that even for customers with multiple entries, the names aren't always exactly the same but the first several characters are. Can anyone advise?

    Thanks,

    Eric

Eric, you will need to elaborate... how many characters do you want to use to determine a *match* ... ?
In general terms what you're trying to do is relatively straightforward... but we need to know the logic you wish to employ regards partial matches.

Most of the customers with multiple entries are the same with only a few customers that will have name variations (e.g. Grocery Stores vs. Grocery Stores, Inc.) . Ideally, i'd say 20+ characters, but some of the customer names only have 6 or so characters. So, I'm not sure how that will impact the formula.

I could live with just assuming all the customers will multiple entries have no variation so that reference to just cells may suffice.

    Thanks!

OK, ignoring issues of inconsistencies things are pretty straightforward, such that:

If you do want to handle *like* matches let us know... it will be a little more convoluted were the partial match ever to be listed first.... if not you could try:

Without a bigger source it's hard to comment... and I very much doubt that the above would prove 100% successful.
