    Date Separator in Excel

Hi, quick question for all those IT types out there... For years I have set my computer to accept a full stop (.) as a date separator rather than using a forward slash (/). We have just been given Vista at work and am now getting to grips with Office 2007. Can anyone tell me how to set my PC to accept the full stop as the separator? The context that this is in is only really for Excel e.g. to type in today’s date I used to enter 18.3.9 and it would auto correct it to 18.03.09.
This was previously changed through the ‘Regional Settings’ option but the option is no longer there...

    Cheers

Those parameters can be changed in the control panel.

    Here are the steps

    Start
    Control Panel
    Regional and Language Options
Under the format tab, Hit the customize this format... button
Under the Date tab you can change the short date format. Your options are either a / or a - to be used as a separator

Re: Date Separator in Excel - SOLVED

Hi, I'm not sure what happened with previous posts but they never seemed to make it onto here.

My question has now been solved....

You get into the regional & language options
    Click customize this format
    Select the date tab
The drop down list for short dates can then be edited to the format you require - in my case dd.MM.yy

    Cheers
