    Excel Graphing

    Hey guys and gals,

    This is my first post on here but I am in GREAT need of some help!

    I'm currently trying to make a graph of the following information:

    Please Login or Register to view this content.
    I am wondering how I can make that type of graph that would look like that? The numbers on the right side (if your looking at the screen) can be centered and do not need to be where they are right now.

    I will then be connecting my left side numbers and right side numbers under FY 10.

    For instance I will need to have a line connecting 1,200 KKGA to 16$KGA and 400KKGA to 24$KGA.

    THIS IS REALLY CONFUSING AND I'M SURE I'M MAKING EVERYONE ELSE CONFUSED!!

    If you can figure this out you might be the smartest person in the world. I've been trying to work on this for 3 hours know and have gotten nowhere.

    Thanks for all the help!!

    If you can't explain what you want, we're going to be hard-pressed to help.

    Re: Excel Graphing Help Needed

    Is this the sort of thing you are trying to do.

    You need to calculate a scaling factor for the second value in order to draw the line.

    I have assumed the FY11 and FY12 points are just labels and the points can be interpolated between FY10 and FY13

    Re: Excel Graphing

    Yes that is what I'm looking for...

    BUT i'm looking to learn how to do it to haha...

    The reason why is because I still have numbers I need to make lines for!

    1400 = 22

    1200 = 16

    1000 = 17

    600 = 20

    400 = 24

    250 = 16KGA

    those numbers all have to be under FY 10...

    The chart is a line chart.

    To get the categories on the edge of the plot area, Category axis has Cross between categories unchecked.
    To get category labels at top of plot area, Value axis has Category (x) axis crosses at maximum.

    The end line value is calculated as a factor in order to give a relationship between left side of chart and the right. You need to divide the end value by this factor in order to get a value that will work on this single scale.

    You will need to set the min and max value of the value axis in order to display start and finish values on right hand side.

    To apply the data labels you need to select a series and then select the final point in the series and apply data labels to that point only

    A couple more questions

    If I need to get incriments by 100 on the left side of the graph is that possible and how?

    If I need to get increments that go by 2 on the right side is that possible and how?

    thanks

    Tim

    Re: Excel Graphing

    If you click on the y axis, you can adjust the major unit scale value from 500 (what it is now) to 100. You can add a new data series and set it to a secondary y axis, then scale that axis. See example. Andy might have a better way.

    Thank for that ChemistB!

    I guess I just don't know how to add a new data series and set it to a secondary y axis, then scale that axis. Especially with all the equations andy has already done!

    I just wish I was smart as you guys HAHAHA

    Re: Excel Graphing

    ChemistB's suggestion is the way to go.

    To add a new series right click the chart and choose Source Data.
    On the Series tab use the Add button to add a new series.
    Select the new series, which will be a single point, and press CTRL+1 to display format dialog. On the Axis tab select Secondary axis.

    You will also need to format the secondary axis to set the Min, Max and Major values.

    Currently the chart is displaying a data label at the end of each line. If you are including a scale on the right hand side you may not need to use the data labels.

    Andy,

    I right clicked on the chart and I did not have a source data button to select? Would it be called something else? I'm using the Microsoft 2007 version.

    Re: Excel Graphing

    What I need is the following:

    0 - 50 on the secondary vertical axis side... Equally nothing on the left side as of right now!

    We have to be able to classify and change these if numbers need moved.

    Thanks

    In xl2007 select the chart and use
