Downloadable optimisation programs (Excel 2007)

Dear all,

the director of my company is suggesting that we buy a license for an excel 2007 file size reduction/calculation speed optimisation program. We produce a lot of Excel based toolkits and therefore optimising excel performance is very important to us.

Does anyone know of any such programs (I have come across Fast Excel) or does anyone recommend any of these programs highly?

Alternatively are they a waste of time?

I would really like to hear your opinions.

I guess it would depend on how you toolkits work.

Are they spreadsheet formula or VBA coding?

I have not tried FastExcel but for the small price I would just get it and test it.
Also I suggest you trawl Charles' site for information on general optimisation of workbooks.

Hi Andy-

thanks for getting back to me - the books contain large amounts of both spreadsheet formulae and VBA code.

I will have a look at FastExcel - might as well if the boss is paying!

Don't seem to be able to find a link to Charles' webpage on the forum - you got it to hand?
