    Format wont change on cells

Hi ive been importing some data into excel from access automatically. The datas problematic for me because it wont allow me to alter the format and I want to concatenate it aswell.

This is what my columns look like -

    Column A is all
    dd/mm/yyyy

    Column B is all
    hh:mm:ss

No matter what format I try and change to it wont alter, general, date to number etc etc. What id like to do though is to concatenate both the columns into one to allow me to sort chronologically.

    Can anyone help? Thanks

    RJ

It sounds as though the data is coming across as text.
If you highlight the column and use Data -> Text to Columns, then Next, Next, on step 3 use column data format "DMY" and finish.
The data should now be date and the formats you described should work.

Note: If this is a common import you may want to record a macro so you can just run it after the import.
