    Problem with Conditional Formatting

    Hello,

I am having problems with the conditional formatting function of Excel 2007.

I have set-up the conditional formatting to format only top or bottom ranked values. I have selected the rows and want it to rank the percentages. I have set-up the top 1 to be green font color and another rule to change the bottom ranked value to red font color.

When I paste special formats to the other rows I need this conditional formatting on sometimes it works, sometimes only the green shows up and sometimes only the red will show up. Why?

The formatting is the same throughout the sheet and I can't figure out why it would work on some rows and not on others.

    Hoping someone can help!

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I imagine you're getting "one rule on top of another". To extend the conditional format range, try using the "manage rules" option.
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1

    Re: Problem with Conditional Formatting

    Thanks!

I found out that there were numbers in hidden columns that shouldn't have been there. They were causing the font colors to be screwed up.

Have a great day and thanks again!

    Re: Problem with Conditional Formatting

I am having another problem that I need help with.

Under conditional formatting I am trying to match up values using the following formula

    =IF(($C$15+$C$27)+($J$8+$J$20), 0, 1)

When this formula returns a true value then it shades the cell in a light green. I have been copying the formula and four of the cells aren't working. It is the same formula as the other cells and all cells are formatted the same, but the cells aren't green. The cells that aren't working are yellow.

I have attached a copy of the sheet. Hope you can help!

    Re: Problem with Conditional Formatting

    Hi,

If you take a look in "Applies to" in "Rule Manager" on the example you've posted, the conditional format isn't applied to the cells you mention. Change the "applies to" range and it works fine.

    Re: Problem with Conditional Formatting

I am not sure I am following you.

I want the cells that are filled in as light yellow to change to the light green when the formula in the conditional formatting is equal to zero. The cells that are in the applied to are the cells that should change color.

My problem is that the (559.68) and the 559.68 do equal zero and the cells are still colored yellow. Why? It equals zero so it should work and change the fill color to green. All the other cells are working except for those four.

    Thanks!
