Can I shift (or offset) interval ticks on chart axis?

    Hello Everyone,

I have a chart with an X-axis that ranges from -249 to +1622.

I would like to set the X-axis ticks at:

    0
    500
    1000
    1500

But if I set the major unit interval to 500, it starts counting at -249 and places the ticks as follows:

    -249
    751
    1251

And that's not what I want!!

Is there any way to offset the first tick by +249, so that it is placed at zero, and all the subsequent ticks are also correctly placed?

I'm open to any idea -- even if it is quite involved or technical!

    Many thanks,

    Jay

    Hi Jay,

what type of chart are you using? If you are trying to create a line chart, use the XY Scatter chart instead. You will have much more control over the X axis compared to a line chart. In a line chart, you x axis will consist of "categories" and you can only set to display a marker or label ever nth category, which will not be the interval of 500 you're after.

If you use a XY Scatter chart instead, you can set at which point the Y axis crosses, and exactly at which numbers on the X axis you want your axis markers.

    hope that helps

To get the exact values displayed you will need to add another series to the chart and use that to build your own set of axis markers/labels.
