Reading Data from one excel file to another?

    Hi Everyone,

Here is what I am trying to do:

I have a request form (in excel), and everytime someone submits it I want to enter the information from it into another excel file that holds all the requests.

So I would like to set up a marco or something (excuse my ignorance, I am by far not an expert in excel) so that I can quickly (almost automated) load the data from particular cells from the request for into certain cells in the sheet that holds the information on all the requests.

I know how to set something like this up using a file and VB or java and a database, but I am at a loss with excel.

Any help would be very appretiated, or any ideas to do this even easier :-)

    Cheers

    Hi Fergs,

Can you attach the file? Make sure you remove all the sensitive data.

Sorry I actually can't. There are very strick security rules where I work.

I'm just looking for advice by people who may have done something that sounds similar to this.

    Cheers

Thumbs up Re: Reading Data from one excel file to another?

It can be done very easily. But, to be able to explain it without a sample Excel file is difficult. Anyways, this is how you open, save and close the Excel file where the entire data is stored:

    Hope it helps.
