ODBC Data bought imported in table format

I have an ODBC link set up from Excel into our accounting system. Under Excel 2003 I had several reports set up which refreshed the data and then I ran a macro on these to subtotal the information. These continue to work fine in Excel 2007. However if i create new reports in 2007 the data is imported in a tabled format (which can be useful) but makes it impossible to run subtotals. I found an option which converts the data to a range but this then breaks the data link.
Is it possible to bring the data in in a non-tabled format or to convert it without losing the data link? If not it seems the only way round this is create new reports which require this function on Excel 2003.

Hi Andrew, and welcome to the forum.

I've not been able to get around the limitations you've already seen, but perhaps one option would be to import the data into a table, then using a macro copy that table data to another location/sheet and paste as values only (or values and formats if you want to keep the "table look"). You could then run your subtotals and macros on that data.
