Question Retrieve value from website and enter in cell

I am making up a gold price calculator for all the different karat gold (10k, 18k etc.) and I want my sheet to grab the current gold price of the day (in Australian dollars) preferably from kitco.com. For example todays price is $1222.98 which is found on the front page of kitco.com
    Can this be done?
It doesn't necessarily have to be kitco.com, but it does have to be in Australian dollars and updated daily.
    Thanks in advance
    Jason

    Hi Jason,

You can use Excel's Data - Import External Data (or in 2007, Data - From Web) functionality to pull table or text data from web pages.

I went to the site you mentioned, and most of those are charts or even just plain images of stock charts. You can't import that "data" into cells. You would need to find a site that lists the current gold values as text in a tabular format, then use the Import web query to go to that page and select the table.

Hopefully that points you in the right direction..
