    showing all cell referances

At the risk of sounding like a novice I have the follow question:

If I double click in a cell, Excel shows me all of the different cells referenced by my formula by using colored boxes.

Is there any way of doing the reverse of that. I would like to know all of the other cells that reference a given cell. I am going through a bunch of sheets that someone else created and there are cells that I have know idea where they are used or why they were created. I wish the they would've made some notes, but no luck and they no longer work here, so I am kinda up the creek.

Any suggestions to ease my pain would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Matt

In the Formulas tab of the Ribbon, you can select Trace Dependents, Trace Precedents and arrows will point to the associated cells.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Turn on the FORMULA AUDITING toolbar.
Click on the cell in question
Click on the Trace Dependents icon.
