    Find and count unique values

I have a spreadsheet that holds customer information. What I want to do is find how many customers there were last month. I have a cell (C1) which has last month displayed as 2009/05. A1 holds the customer ID and B1 holds the date they used us. Each customer may has used us many times and I'm having a nightmare trying to solve this.

    Please help.

Re: Find and count unique values

So you want to know how many times a date was entered for the particular month, or how many times dates were entered once for each customer for the month?
Where there is a will there are many ways.

If I understand you correctly, you're looking for the number of unique customers during the month.

    This formula might work:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
where a1:a150 is the range of customer ID's (I'm assuming a customer's ID is unique to each customer)

UPDATE: APOLOGIES- I THINK IT'S NOT CORRECT

Excel 365 user. To unblock a downloaded macro-enabled workbook, go to your "Downloads" folder > right click on the workbook name > click 'Properties' > check the 'Unblock' checkbox. You can now open the workbook.

Re: Find and count unique values

If 10 customers used us 5 times there would be 50 entries for the month. So, how many customers used us in the month.
I hope that makes it clearer?

    Try:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
Where A1:A50 contain customer names and B1:B50 contain dates...

edit ranges to suit and confirm formula with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER not just ENTER

Re: Find and count unique values

    Hi!
I am using a similar formula to count the number of different unique values within any given date (so Month and Year are relevant), How can I use the Count(1/Frequency.... formula achieve my calculation?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
