Changing filename of Excel file that's linked to powerpoint

Hi everyone,

EXCEL and PPT 2007. I've got a powerpoint that has many links to an excel file. I want to rename the excel file but the powerpoint has trouble recognizing the new excel file name and can't seem to dynamically update its links to the new file. Change source doesn't seem to work either. Any suggestions?

I don't want to insert as an object. I've got a master powerpoint which feeds off my master excel sheet, which I paste raw data into. Pasting 30 different objects every single week into the powerpoint would be cumbersome.
