    tabulating survey, Stat tests, etc.

I am doing a passenger survey which aims at capturing certain demographics and preferences, example: Gender, Age Group, Purpose of Travel, Mode of Transport, etc.

I have used excel for numerical data and then doing t-tests on it, but this survey will have qualitative data.

Any ideas on how to tabulate the results in excel? Any starting guidance will help. Thanks!

For Excel and efficiency in working with the data, your worksheet should be setup in a classic data table structure, meaning:
    • First row is a header row identifying the fields of data
    • All data is entered in cell below the header row
    • All rows are "records"
    • Do not use blank rows or columns
    • Blank cells within a record are OK
    • Always use the the default cell format for alignment so that numbers and text values are easily distinguished
    • Never use the Text format for cells

With a proper structure as described above you can then easily derive the qualitative analyses you want. Pivot Tables are highly recommended for quickly getting a lot of results/views of data with little effort.

For further help, consider uploading a representative workbook with a bit of data and clearly explain what you want to achieve.
