    Date formula

    Hi there,

    I'm trying to work out what the formula is to do the following:

    I want a cell to show how many days there are between the current date and a certain date in the future. Essentially then giving me a daily count down to a specified date.

    An easy thing to do for some, but something I just can't seem to figure out for myself.

    All help much appreciated,

    Andrew

    re: Date formula

    Dates in XL are Integers with Day 1 being 1st Jan 1900 (on a 1900 date system) ... today being day 40011 ... given this fact you can simply subtract/add dates as you wish as you would with any other numbers, ie:

    =DATE(2009,12,31)-TODAY()

    will show how many days left until 31st Dec 2009 from Today (exclusive of Today itself - add 1 to result to make inclusive)

    Note: TODAY() is Volatile so will always recalculate - this means that tomorrow the calculation would drop from 167 to 166.
