Hidden columns in pivot table source data

Hello,

I wish to hide some columns that contain data used to update a pivot table in another worksheet.

What I want to know is though, will this affect the pivot table? I think that graphs in excel will normally ignore data in hidden cells, so I was wondering if it was the same with pivot tables.
