Smooth Horizontal Scrolling

I noticed that when Scrolling horizontally, Instead of scrolling smoothly, excel scrolls 1 column at a time. In other words, the left border of the screen is always aligned with a column border.

This makes navigation difficult when I have really wide cells as it causes almost complete horizontal page jumps.

any tips on how to scroll an amount less than the width of the next column?
