    Tough formula problem

I've been asked to assist in finding a way to return certain data from several sheets back to a summary sheet. That in itself is not hard. The only part that makes it hard is that the reference columns A and B that are to be compared to column C and D on the other sheets often have two results. This means a simple VLOOKUP formula will not work. I'm not sure if it is possible with a formula or may need code to make it work somehow.

So in summary I need column C in the summary sheet to search for a match of column A and B in the summary sheet with Columns C and D respectively in a data sheet that is named the same as C1 on the summary sheet. When a match is found I need the corresponding text in column H to be returned/inserted to column C in the summary sheet. If it ws done as a macro I would need it to continue doing that for each figure in columns A and B on the summary sheet. Then to do the same comparing with sheet matching D1, then E1 etc

Ok that may be hard to understand but hopefully you get the gist of it

    Hi LovenLust.

First, be sure to read through the Forum Rules so you can use and follow them effectively. For instance, you'll need to edit that post above and change your thread title to something that reflects the CONTENT of your question. Titles should not refer to yourself or opinion, they must be a "searchable" title that reflects the topic. I know you see the benefit of accurate titles, yes? (TIP: don't put in your title until you've finished writing the content, then the title will most likely be self-evident)

So, be sure to fix that.

Next, your question indicates a complexity requiring you show us your data AND show us your desired results. So mockup a sample workbook showing the data and your desired results, point out where the results came from if not obvious in your sample data. BEFORE/AFTER sheets are always helpful in finding a speedy resolution.

Click GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to post up your workbook.
